Seal And Coat is accepting applications for entry level pavement maintenance technicians/sealcoaters.
Ideally, we are seeking experienced individuals - however we will train the right motivated individuals. The ideal candidate will be willing to take part in hands-on, on the job supervised training. You must be willing to follow and be trained to the highest company standards. You must be willing to get dirty and will be required to lift up to 50lbs and possibly up to 100lbs (with help if needed). You will be working outside in the sun on hot/warm days.

This position is open to a variety of individuals who are willing to work either full time/part time and M-F, Weekends, or both. Days off depend on work load, but most importantly, weather conditions. Typical daily meeting place is in Rocky Hill, CT however, in certain cases you may be able to meet us at the job-site if it is closer more convenient for you. Typical normal business hours - some late evenings and rarely night-time maintenance tasks for commercial locations. Must be reliable, punctual, show up on time.
This is a seasonal position that will end sometime between October-November. The right person may have the opportunity to rejoin our company in 2009. This is also an excellent ground level opportunity with possible future advancement within our company for the right individual(s).

Requirements:
The ideal candidate will be willing to learn the following tasks as well as additional related tasks if needed.
- Learn proper application techniques of pavement coal-tar and asphalt emulsion sealers using brush, squeegee and mechanical spray application methods.
- Learn information regarding sealer mix design, use of sand, additives and proper ratio and percentages.
- Learn how to apply direct-fire rubberized crack sealing materials, use of equipment and proper application and finishing techniques.
- Learn proper surface and crack cleaning and preparation techniques and methods.
- Learn how to diagnose and create dynamic maintenance and repair strategies for pavement surfaces.
- Excellent English verbal and written/reading communication skills.
- Learn about various pavement conditions and proper repair techniques.
- Learn proper repair and maintenance techniques of equipment.
Additional Requirements
- Must possess a valid drivers license, automobile insurance and reliable transportation to come to work.
- Must possess the ability to pass an initial drug and/or alcohol test and criminal background check. You may also be subjected to random drug and/or alcohol tests at our discretion.
- No serious felony or misdemeanor convictions.
- Excellent customer service skills with a good attitude.
- Clean, neat appearance that represents a quality image for our company.
- Must be able to lift 50lbs and up to 100lbs with help if needed.
- Handle an array of power equipment.
- Must be able to stand and work in a demanding environment in the sun and warm/hot weather.
- Must be able to perform manual labor, including but not limited to: lifting, luting, tamping, clean-up.
- Minor mechanical ability to replace or perform minor maintenance tasks on equipment in the field.
- Follow company standards of quality, neat professional results.
- May be required to train or assist in training new employees in the future.
- Be sharp and able maintain the highest safety standards possible.
- Be a team player.
- Applicant may not own or operate a similar business in the state of Connecticut for the next 5 years.
Pay depending on experience and other factors. Bonuses based on volume of work completed.
