Cold applied crack sealing products, also known as cold-pour, are ideal for small projects that do not require extensive crack repair work. They also work well for small cracks and hairline cracks where hot-applied products wouldn't perform or adhere properly.
Cold applied crack sealants work best on cracks 1/2" or smaller. Because of their easier workability and extended set-up time, these products can be smoothed easier to help hide cracks and small imperfections. For this reason, acrylic crack sealants are ideal for tennis courts, outdoor basketball courts, and other surfaces where a perfect and precise finish is required.
Seal And Coat typically uses these products on newer residential driveways that don't display large numbers of cracks. When an average to above average number of cracks are present, we tend to utilize our commercial-grade hot rubberized crack sealant.
The rubberized, latex and acrylic products are available in a standard black color, as well as gray for use on concrete and older asphalt surfaces to help them blend in. For optimal visual appeal, we also use red and green sealants to fill cracks in tennis and basketball courts and other sport surfaces between resurfacing.
Trowel Grade, Surface Mastic and Alligator Repair Products
Trowel grade crack fillers perform differently than crack sealants. These products typically "fill" the crack rather than seal it. Sealants allow for expansion and contraction during hot and cold temperature shifts. In contrast, crack fillers provide little flexibility and remain rigid, which could cause the crack to open up eventually. These types of products however, do play an important role in pavement maintenance and repair tasks. They are best used on large cracks up to 1" wide. These types of products are also ideal for smoothing and leveling small rough spots, depressions and alligatored or check cracked areas.
Typically these we use these products for customers seeking to employ a cost effective, cheap alternative to more a more expensive cold patch or hot mix asphalt repair job. They are ideal to create a quick, affordable cosmetic fix where you want to temporary improve the appearance of a damaged section of pavement. For example, we might be included to use this type of product on a driveway just prior to selling the home.
Seal And Coat utilizes environmentally friendly asphalt emulsion, high molecular weight acrylic polymer modified trowel grade crack fillies fortified with mineral fibers, graded rubber and fine ceramic aggregate.
